About
Across North America, winner-take-all elections make a zero-sum game of our democracy — driving division and leaving voters disenchanted. The film makes the case for proportional representation, which awards seats in proportion to voters' actual support, making room for more viewpoints, more nuance, and more people actually feeling heard.
The challenge was landing that argument in under two minutes without it feeling like another explainer video or a civics lesson. The turning point came during the design phase, when the ballot itself became a punchline — Mr. Big Donors, Mr. Lesser of Two Evils, Ms. Always in the Race — candidates familiar enough to be funny, specific enough to sting. Once the broken system had names, the better way had something to push against, and the piece found its footing.
Made in collaboration with Seattle agency Rupert for the Sightline Institute, a Pacific Northwest think tank working to advance a global model of sustainability.
